Getting Prepared for the CNY Production Stoppage

It is this time of year again when factories don’t know how long their employees will stay… When traveling around China becomes a nightmare… And when all the buyers say “you must ship my order before the holiday”…

Chinese New Year is coming up soon!

We even heard of a few factories planning to close this weekend.

The official CNY day is January 31 this year. So, if your products are not on a boat or in a plane in 20 days, you will have to wait for a few more weeks.

I thought it was time to revisit an old article that gives excellent advice to importers on this topic:

Chinese New Year: how to manage the disruption?

If you have several productions under way, good luck with timing!

  1. We had troubles getting a FCL out of Qingdao even at the end of December and ended up having to do an LCL shipment for some of our more urgent products. Long story short, as you mentioned, order more inventory to cover you for the inevitable lull after CNY and also order well in advance to make sure your stuff can actually get shipped!
